Those of you with infants probably know tis already, but did you know that's it's possible to spend an entire evening with your husband and basically only talk about poo? No? It is. And it is totally as romantic as it sounds.
We are never doing the puppy thing again. He is really cute though.

Whoops
For various reasons I won't go into here, I was on The Knot today and decided to look at my wedding website from two years ago. And I noticed a typo on the Ceremony/Reception information page. I got the date wrong.
Wow. WOW.
I wonder if anyone noticed and just didn't tell me? :)

Beast Update
We decide to name the new beast...
BARKSDALE!
He's going to be a big oafy beast when he's full grown and won't ever posses the gravitas required for a name like Timmy J. We liked Taliaferro because it was different, but neither one of use even lived in that dorm, and since everyone thinking Griffin is a boy (she's a girl), we decided to go with some more gender appropriate for this dog. So Barksdale it is...Little Barker Boo Boo. Yes, I just wrote that out loud on the internet.
The doggy introduction has gone ok so far, better than hoped for, but not exactly ideal. Griffin is protective of us and the house, so she's been kind of growly and is occasionally guarding the front door or the crate door from Barksdale. In other words she's living up to her nickname, "Princess Doesn't Play Well with Others" to a certain extent.
Other times she seems like she might be trying to play with him or will let him get pretty close and sniff or lick her. We think over time they adjust ok. I just hope we aren't scarring Barksdale for life by making him life with a big mean dog.
One thing that is super-obnoxious is that she is all up in his food! He eats slow because he's a puppy, and Griffin will wolf her food down and then race around the corner to get his food too. Some cursory research online tells me we may have to feed them in separate rooms where we can close doors.
Any advice from the owners of multiple dogs on feeding and new dog integration in general would be very welcome!

Here's everyone playing nicely near each other.

We're Crazy...
...or We Got Another Dog.
We're open to suggestions on the name.
Here's what we're thinking:
-Barksdale
-Timmy J
-Taliaferro
-Barret
We also talked about James Blair (JB for short), but the 4 above are the frontrunners.
I'll try to post a picture in a moment!

The 2011 Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon
Running Oklahoma City is an experience that I will absolutely never forget. Between the travel and the weather and the results, it was a very different racing experience than I've had previously. The marathon is in memory of victims of the Oklahoma City bombing and proceeds benefit the Memorial. The tagline for the race is "A Race to Remember" and oh my, was it ever.
- I only trained for about 13 weeks for this, but I came off a nice month or so of doing some ok mileage (not to mention winning some free shoes at a fun run -- surely a sign of good things to come).
- I used a Hal Higdon race plan which I cribbed from Hal's site (he's so my hero) and Daily Garnish's planned National Marathon training plan (before she revealed she was having a baby!).
- I joined the local Road Runners Spring Season (only $20!), mostly for the track workouts, and also ran with the Pacer's Fun Run groups and a couple of friends (THANK YOU), so I probably did the least solo training I've ever done and that was awesome.
- AND I TOTALLY STUCK TO MY TRAINING PLAN. There was a big black hole where my ski vacation was, but see all the filled in squares? That's all my training!! Yay!
Wolf Trap
I went to Wolf Trap last night see Huey Lewis & the News . Fun fact: Did you know they were originally Huey Lewis & the American Express? They had to change the name for legal reasons.
I always think, 'Oh Wolf Trap, old people go there, I'll be home by 10pm." False. The opening act didn't even go on until after 8 and Huey Lewis & the News (have to say the whole thing because it's not just about Huey Lewis, the News is an important part of the act...instrumental, if you will) didn't go on until after 9. Dang, yo. I didn't get home until about 5 bottles of wine past my bed time aka midnight.
As a result, I verbally assaulted some tourists on the metro escalator this morning. There was a family taking a PICTURE on the escalator. No, really, they're all grinning and posing, taking up the whole width of the walkway and there's someone about 5 steps lower on the escalator taking their picture. Seriously? This is not only annoying, but likely unsafe. So I told them to move it or lose it, and the mom called me a bitch. And then I yelled something back about taxes and living here and getting to work. I'm banking on the fact that they're from Indiana and don't know that Federal money is a significant source of funding for WMATA.
