Questionable Language and Writing Skills

I'm no English major, and consider myself to be only a fairly competent writer, but this caught my eye today and just seems wrong: (Billboard outside my office--will try to snap a picture later today) "If you see something suspicious commuting to work or grabbing lunch, call 911" The way this is worded I can't help but think of "something suspicious" in line at Potbelly ordering a Wreck on wheat for lunch. Or getting stuck in the turnstyle of the metro because the card reader it's smartrip card.
